Harvest’s Youth Ministry is designed to come alongside of parents, to help their student(s) to be prepared for not just the present, but also for the next stage of life in front of them.
It seems that each year, Youth are facing all kinds of transitions, i.e. Middle school to High school, different school activities, driving, graduation, entering the work force, starting college, and one day being out from underneath direct parental control.
In the midst of all these transitions, our hope in the Youth ministry is to help students who haven’t yet started a relationship with Jesus Christ to do so, to disciple those in Christ into a deeper relationship with Jesus, and to help them know how they can serve, lead, and set an example in the church, even as a youth.
Teens really are “young adults” who have to make serious adult decisions every day. For this reason we feel it is important to be real with the students, engage them where they’re at (in an appropriate manner), and equip them to apply Scripture in every decision they make.
So how does Harvest go about equipping students?
We do in-depth teaching of the Bible
Teach students how to study the Bible for themselves
Provide apologetic training so they know “why they believe what they believe” and how to give an answer for the hope they have
Provide missions opportunities
Encourage the student(s) as they live their Christian life in an un-Christian world
Teens also need to be teens. So we try to have a balance of awesomely fun youth events: Bowling, Canoeing, Bon-fires, Game nights, Wii competitions, Dodge-ball for the brave, just chillin’ at someone’s pad, and much more.
Yes, that’s right, there is a parent’s page on the youth ministries web page. Believe it or not, mom and dad, we really want you to be actively involved in the lives of your student(s) as together we work in preparing them for the next stage of life.
One of the core values of Harvest is to aid you as parents in the discipling of your student(s).We truly value your input: on ideas, events, what’s going well, and what we need to add or work on.
This youth page is designed for students to know what is going on at Harvest, but it also works for you the parent, to be on top of all the calendar events, and to know everything that is happening in the youth ministry.
