Pastor Todd Benkert serves as the lead pastor of Harvest Baptist Fellowship. As pastor, Todd leads the church in fulfilling its mission and shepherds the congregation through preaching and teaching and by providing spiritual care for its members. Todd is a graduate of Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he holds the M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees. He and his wife Heidi have three children and live in Merrillville.
As Pastor of Discipleship, Chris provides oversight in Harvest’s adult and teen discipleship with two main goals. The first goal is to help equip the church to go out and make disciples, with evangelistic and apologetic training. The second goal is to help those in Christ to grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus (teaching people how to live out the Scriptures and to provide outlets for people to serve in the church using the gifts God provides). Pastor Chris and his wife Julie have had the privilege of serving at Harvest since its inception in 2004. Before coming on staff at Harvest he worked in industrial construction as a Union Boilermaker out of Local 374. Now he’s finishing his Bachelors of Science in Biblical Studies from the Moody Bible Institute, which will be done in the summer of 2009 (with the desire to pursue a Masters of Divinity).
